Change of History

The French Revolution

There is a good chance that if the various French kings had known the identities of dissidents and may be also potential dissidents, then the French kings might have preemptively executed the dissidents and the French Revolution might have not happened.

The Collapse of the Soviet Union

The Soviet Union would have probably collapsed anyway, because there wasn't enough material resources to keep the brighter part of the repression apparatus members satisfied, but if the dissidents of the Soviet satellite states had been killed or imprisoned in time, the satellite states probably would have not cut loose from the Russia and the satellite states might be still part of Russia in 2019. Due to the lack of computers and the lack of the Internet in the Soviet Union the Soviet KGB had far inferior intelligence gathering capabilities than the year 2019 intelligence agencies have.
